Oct 19, 2015 · I heard that LC vials with non slit septa gives OOS results, if the vials are filled to the neck, it creates vaccum or back pressure. The issue is not with the septa but with overfilling the vial. Slit septa leak around the needle while the sample is being withdrawn, so the headspace stays at atmospheric pressure.

Pre-slit septa are highly recommended for Shimadzu, Hitachi, and other autosamplers with thin gauge needles. PTFE/Silicone/PTFE Septa: (T/S/T) layer of inert PTFE film is laminated to each side of high-purity, medium durometer silicone to form a septum that is resistant to coring, but still maintains good resealing characteristics.

500 µL of the standard was placed in a maximum recovery pre-slit septa vial. In the second set of analyses, a 300 µL aliquot of sample was placed into five separate vials, each vial capped with non-preslit septa. This ensured that there was no evaporation of the samples over the 10 hours required for the analysis.

Jun 13, 2022 · Pre-slit septs are excellent solutions for chromatography applications that require 20% or more of the sample injection from the vial each time. The purpose is to avoid creating a suction effect. Autosampler in action, which requires the use of vials with septa. In addition to that, the slit permits ambient gas to equalize the gas in the vial.
